The terms, in plain English

1. The app

Words with Mia is a word search game featuring daily puzzles, the Word Path, puzzle books and multiple puzzle languages. Some content is free. Other content is available with a subscription to Thuispas or Wereldpas, or by purchasing individual puzzle books.

2. Licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the app on devices you control, for your own non-commercial use.

If you downloaded the app from the Apple App Store, Apple's standard app licence agreement applies to the licence, also known as the Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement. These terms apply in addition to that agreement. If you downloaded the app from Google Play, these terms apply together with the Google Play terms. Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for the app or its content.

You must not copy, sell, rent out, decompile or create derivative works from the app, except where applicable law expressly allows it.

3. Account and conduct

The app works without an account. If you link an optional Olympheon account using Apple or Google, you are responsible for maintaining access to that account. Your username must not be misleading, offensive or discriminatory, infringe anyone else's rights. We may change or remove usernames that breach these rules and block an account in cases of serious misuse.

4. Subscriptions (Thuispas and Wereldpas)

• While your subscription is active, Thuispas gives you access to the complete Word Path and every puzzle book in one language of your choice. Wereldpas gives you the same access in every language. Both passes remove ads between levels. Ads you choose to watch, for example for a hint or another chance, will still be available. They are an optional exchange, not an interruption.
• Subscriptions are available monthly or yearly and renew automatically at the rate that applies at the time until you cancel. The price is shown in the app and the store before you buy.
• You cancel through the store, not through us. On iOS, go to Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions. On Android, go to the Play Store > Payments & subscriptions. You can cancel at any time. Your cancellation will take effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and you will keep access until then. The "Manage subscription" button in the app will take you to the right place.
• If you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, you will not be charged again.
• You can periodically change the language linked to a Thuispas, up to once every 30 days. The app will show you when you can make your next change.

5. One-off purchases (puzzle books)

You buy each puzzle book once and it remains yours in the language you bought it in. A book in another language contains different content and is therefore a separate purchase. To restore previous purchases on a new device, select "Restore purchases" in the shop using the same App Store or Google Play account.

6. Payments and refunds

All payments are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive or store any payment details. Refunds are also handled through the store. On iOS, visit reportaproblem.apple.com. On Android, use the Play Store. We cannot issue refunds ourselves. The rules of the relevant store determine whether a refund is granted. To the extent permitted by law, when you purchase digital content that is delivered immediately, you waive your right of withdrawal.

7. Virtual content

Stamps, cosmetic items and other virtual content have no monetary value, cannot be redeemed or transferred, and remain part of the app. Cosmetic content is earned through play and cannot be purchased.

8. Intellectual property

All rights in the app, the puzzles, the characters, including Mia and Mio, the visual design and the brand names belong to Olympheon or its licensors. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

9. Availability and changes

We may change the app, its content, including puzzles and features, the range of books and languages, and the prices for future billing periods. Prices will never be changed retrospectively for a current subscription period. A subscription price change will only take effect after it has been announced through the store, and you can always cancel before it takes effect. We do our best to keep the app available, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation.

10. Liability

The app is provided as is. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the app during the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot legally be limited or any consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be submitted to the competent courts of the Netherlands, without affecting any mandatory consumer protections that apply in the country where you live.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app. The latest version will always be available on this page. If you continue using the app after an update, the new terms will apply.
