About this word search

The 2026 World Cup was hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico together, and plenty of American kids picked up words like Stoppage time and Shutout from watching it. Shutout is the American term for a game in which one team keeps the other from scoring at all.

Expect long joined strings in this eighteen-row grid, such as CENTERCIRCLE, PENALTYSPOT and STOPPAGETIME, and expect some of them backwards. Center circle uses the American spelling, so look for ER at the end, not RE.

Older fans who know the rules can test each other afterward: one reads a word, the other explains it in a single sentence. Throw-in and Extra time are easy, while Formation and Transfer take a bit more thought.
