About this word search

Double Dutch uses two long ropes turning in opposite directions, with one child skipping in the middle. It has been a sidewalk game in American cities for generations and is now a competitive sport with its own championships. Four square, played with a rubber ball on a court of four chalk boxes, is another recess classic.

Most entries are joined strings, such as MONKEYBARS and OBSTACLECOURSE. In this eighteen-row grid they can also run backwards or slant, so check from both ends. Fort is the shortest word and easy to lose among the long ones.

For a scout troop or a birthday party, the list doubles as a menu of games. Let the kids pick three entries they found, such as Sack race, Leapfrog and Scavenger hunt, and play them in the yard afterward.
