About this word search

A Knuckleball is thrown with almost no spin, so it flutters and dips on its way to the plate. A Grand slam is a home run with the bases loaded, worth four runs at once. And a Sacrifice fly counts as an out, yet brings home a runner from third.

The joined entries are long: DESIGNATEDHITTER, BATTINGAVERAGE, SEVENTHINNING. Words run every way in this eighteen-row grid, backward included, and a find of BALL could belong to half a dozen entries.

The World Series has been played since 1903. Fans who keep a scorecard at the Ballpark can turn the list into a quiz: name a player you have seen hit a Walk-off, or explain how a Double play works.
