About this word search

The Captain wears an Armband to mark the role, and the Dugout is the covered bench beside the pitch where the Manager and the substitutes sit. Terms like Formation and Transfer come up constantly in commentary but are rarely explained, which makes this list a useful way for older children to learn what the commentators are saying.

Entries in the eighteen by eighteen grid can turn up in any of eight orientations, reversed ones as well. Hyphenated words such as Throw-in and Kick-off appear as a single run of letters. Start with Centre circle and Penalty spot, then pick up short ones like Volley and Trophy, where the Y gives them away.

A good follow-up is writing a short match report that uses at least eight words from the list.
