About this word search

Handball on this list could mean two very different games. In most Australian school playgrounds it is the game where a ball is hit into squares drawn on the ground, while at the Olympics it is a fast team sport with goals at each end. Touch footy is another local favourite, a non-tackle form of rugby league played in parks across the country.

Twenty-eight sports are tucked into this eighteen by eighteen grid, some reading in reverse and some on a diagonal. Snowboarding and Skateboarding share the ending BOARDING, which can trick you into circling the wrong one. The Q in Squash, the K in Taekwondo and the V in Javelin and Pole vault are good early targets.

Older students might sort the sports by whether they need a ball, water or a board, then compare their lists.
