About this word search
Many of these words could come straight from a farm visit in April: Hen, Duck, Chick and Lamb. Talking about the animals first, and which of them lay eggs, gives a young reader a reason to go looking.
Help with the first word. Say it slowly, find its opening letter, then trace with a finger to the right or downwards. The grid only uses those two directions, so if the next letter is neither to the right nor below, it is time to try another spot. Egg and Hen are only three letters and easy to miss, which makes them a good final challenge.
Once all ten are found, sort them into two piles, farm animals and everything else, and talk about where Basket and Nest belong.
