About this word search
Hat and Shade are two of the first summer rules Australian children learn, and both appear in this small puzzle. The other words follow a day at the beach or the local pool, from Sand and Swim to a block of Ice in the esky.
Keep the session short. Say a word aloud, ask your child which letter it starts with, and look for that letter along the top rows first. Words go only across or down. Beach and Shade have five letters, the longest here, and are good to save for the end.
Later, sketch a day at the beach as a pair and write a few of the found words next to the matching bits.
