About this word search
Windy autumn days are made for flying a kite, and Kite and Wind both appear in this list of ten. The other words are things a small child can see, hear or pick up on the way to school: a brown Leaf, a puddle after the Rain, a shiny Apple in the lunchbox.
Help your child say each word slowly, stretching out the sounds. Look for its opening letter, then follow that row to the right or that column downwards. That is the whole trick, as the grid holds nothing slanted and nothing back to front. Owl and Fog are quick finds, Acorn and Brown take more looking.
Count the fallen leaves in the yard afterwards, or press one between two pages of a heavy book.
