About this word search
For a fifth or sixth birthday, a few minutes of calm can be welcome between pass the parcel and the cake. These ten words are the ones a young child already links with the day, and most of them can be drawn as well as read.
Show how it works with Hat: find the H, then read on to the right. If the next letter is wrong, go back and try reading down instead. That is all there is to it, since words only run in those two directions. Balloon, with its double L and double O, makes a good final challenge.
Anyone who is done before the others can sketch a cake on the back of the sheet, with the right number of candles on top.
