About this word search
For a child turning five or six, the word Candle carries a lot of weight, since each one stands for a year. Read the ten words aloud together, and stop for a moment at Wish to talk about what your child would wish for.
The grid is ten by ten and the words only go across or down. Hat is the shortest word and a good start. Balloon is the longest, and its two pairs of double letters make it easier to recognize than you might expect.
Afterwards, draw a birthday cake with as many candles as your child is old, then write a word from the list next to each candle.
