About this word search

Great-grandma, Half-sister and In-laws lose their hyphens in the grid, so they appear as one unbroken run of letters. Ancestors and Descendant point in opposite directions in time, which gives a good starting point for a history lesson about where families come from.

Begin with the long ones, Grandparents and Great-grandma, which stretch across a large part of the board. Then look for the rarer letters: the W in Wedding and Newborn, the K in Nickname. Words can be hidden backwards or on any diagonal.

For a family history project, ask students to interview a grandparent or older relative and work several of the listed words into a page about what they learned.
