About this word search

Words like Ancestors, Descendant and Generation make this list a good fit for a family history project. Many Australian families have roots in several countries, and a puzzle like this one can open a conversation about where the grandparents grew up and which languages they spoke at home.

Lines can face any of eight ways, reversed ones included. Grandparents, Great-grandma and Grandson all start with GR, and Stepdad and Stepmum share STEP, so check each find all the way to its last letter.

Older students could then sit down with an uncle, a nan or a cousin, ask about their childhood and write a short portrait that weaves in five of the words.
