About this word search

Comic book writers rely on a shared vocabulary, and this list collects much of it: the Sidekick, the Nemesis, the Secret identity and the Catchphrase. Older children who draw their own comics will recognise these as the building blocks of a story.

Words run in all eight directions, including backwards. X-ray vision appears as XRAYVISION, and its X is the best letter to look for. Headquarters has a Q, and Super strength and Superpower share the opening SUPER, so check the letters that follow.

A good follow-up is to design a hero using five words from the list and write a one-page origin story.
