About this word search
The Quartermaster on a pirate ship often had real power, sharing out food and treasure and settling disputes among the crew. Mutiny and Shipwreck have an Australian link as well: the Dutch ship Batavia was wrecked off the coast of Western Australia in 1629, and its survivors were caught up in a violent mutiny.
These words lurk in any direction, reversed spellings and diagonals included. Quartermaster is the longest, and its Q is a giveaway. Look also for the double C in Buccaneer and the double O in Doubloon. Jolly Roger and Buried treasure appear as single strings.
Older students might use the list to write a ship's log for a voyage that goes wrong.
