About this word search

Many of these words are Italian descriptions. Tagliatelle comes from tagliare, to cut, and Penne means quills, after the shape of an old pen nib. Antipasti means before the meal.

Prosciutto and Mascarpone are long. With all eight directions in play across eighteen squares, double letters are good clues: the CC in Gnocchi and Focaccia, the NN and LL in Cannelloni.

Older children can sort the list into pasta shapes, dishes and ingredients, which shows how much Italian cooking vocabulary British menus already use.
