About this word search

A Portcullis is the heavy grille lowered to block a castle gateway, and a Trebuchet is a siege engine that throws stones with a swinging arm and a counterweight. Chivalry, the code knights were expected to follow, shares its root with the French word for horse.

Lady-in-waiting and Battlements are among the longest entries. With every direction in use across eighteen squares, start there, then look for the V in Visor and Chivalry and the K in Knighthood.

For a history topic, pupils can sort the words into people, buildings and weapons. Jester and Minstrel lead to a talk about entertainment at a medieval Banquet.
