About this word search

A Jester entertained the court with jokes and tricks, a Minstrel brought songs and stories from place to place, and a Herald announced arrivals and carried messages. A Gauntlet is an armoured glove, and throwing one down meant issuing a challenge.

On this eighteen by eighteen board, words may run in reverse and on slants as well as straight. Lady-in-waiting and Battlements are long and good to start with. Then look for rare letters: the V in Visor and Chivalry, the K in Knighthood and Blacksmith.

Older students studying the Middle Ages can sort the list into people, weapons and parts of a castle, then explain which group was hardest to fill.
