About this word search
Cat, Dog, Pig, Cow, Fox and Owl are all three letters long, which makes this one of the gentlest lists for a child who is just putting sounds together. Duck, Lion, Frog and Bear add a fourth letter.
Make the animal noises as you read the list aloud. Then take one word at a time: find its first letter, put a finger on it and move right or down to see if the word carries on. Those are the only two ways the words go, so there is no need to look anywhere else.
When all ten are circled, ask your child to choose a favourite and draw it, then copy the word underneath in their own letters.
