Birthday, extra hard

About this word search

Three entries in this puzzle contain the word BIRTHDAY: Birthday cake, Birthday card and Happy birthday. That makes them harder than they look, because you have to follow each copy of BIRTHDAY until you find the ending that matches. Party popper and Treasure hunt are long too and cut right across the grid.

Words run in all eight directions in the eighteen by eighteen grid, backwards included. Rare letters make good anchors: the K in Sparkler, the V in Sleepover, the four p's in Party popper. Sprinkles and Streamers both start and end with S, which is worth keeping in mind whenever an S catches your eye.

At a Sleepover, hand this out when the lights are meant to be off and nobody is sleepy yet.
