About this word search

Much of this list is civics. Federation in 1901 joined six colonies into the Commonwealth of Australia under a written Constitution, and Advance Australia Fair has been the national anthem since 1984. An Honours list is published each Australia Day, and new citizens make their Pledge at ceremonies held across the country.

The date carries other meanings as well. It recalls the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, and for many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people it marks the start of colonisation and is a day of mourning. Reconciliation and Acknowledgement give older students a way into that history in class.

Lines here can point in any of eight ways, reversed ones included. Acknowledgement is the longest word, while Emu and Esky are short enough to hide almost anywhere.
