About this word search

The Tropic of Capricorn runs right across Australia, passing near Rockhampton and Alice Springs, so the word Tropics has a local link. Latitude and Longitude are easier to remember once students can find their own town on a grid of lines.

Words hide in all eight directions here, and plenty run backwards. North America, South America, Indian Ocean and Arctic Ocean are each printed as one string. Fjord is short but carries the rare J, which makes it a good early catch.

A follow-up: pick five words from the list, find each one in the atlas and note roughly where it sits on the globe.
