About this word search
Bug is the catch-all word young children use for anything small with legs, and it sits here beside proper names such as Ant, Bee and Wasp. Most of the ten have three or four letters, a comfortable size for early readers.
Show your child how a word begins with one letter and then carries on either to the right or straight down. Nothing in this grid runs backwards or slants, so the puzzle stays simple. If a letter looks right but the next one does not match, move on and try another spot.
Take the list into the garden afterwards and count how many legs a real ant has. The answer is six, and Leg happens to be one of the words in the grid.
