About this word search
Two of the best-known documents in English history are hidden here. The Domesday Book of 1086 recorded land and livestock across much of England for William the Conqueror, and Magna Carta was sealed by King John at Runnymede in 1215.
Further back, Cuneiform was pressed into clay tablets in Mesopotamia and Hieroglyphs were carved and painted in Egypt. Writing on Papyrus and later on Parchment carried knowledge forward until the Printing press made copies cheap.
The grid runs to eighteen squares a side and words can go backwards. ARCHAEOLOGIST and ENLIGHTENMENT are thirteen letters each, a good place to begin. Guild and Senate are much shorter and tend to be found last.
