About this word search

A Red panda spends most of its life in the trees and eats mostly bamboo, yet it is not a close relative of the giant panda. Wild lemurs are native only to Madagascar, and the Warthog uses its tusks for digging as well as for defense. A zoo is often the one place a child will see all three in a single afternoon.

Long joined entries such as SNOWLEOPARD, REPTILEHOUSE and BUTTERFLYHOUSE stand out in a grid of this size, even when they run backwards. Reversed and diagonal words are both allowed on the eighteen-row board. The five-letter animals, Okapi, Tapir, Lemur and Macaw, take the longest.

For a class project, give each student one animal from the list and ask them to find out which continent it comes from and what it eats. Pinned to a map, the results show how far apart their wild homes really are.
