About this word search

Modern zoos do a lot more than put animals on show, and words like Conservation and Habitat reflect that. Several species here, including the Orangutan and the Snow leopard, are part of breeding programs run between zoos around the world. The Okapi, a forest animal with striped legs, is the closest living relative of the giraffe.

Any of the eight compass points is fair game for these names, reversed spellings too. Komodo dragon and Butterfly house are long enough to stretch across most of a row, and the K and Y they contain help pin them down. Shorter names such as Lemur and Tapir hide more easily, so keep them for later.

For older students, a good follow-up is choosing one animal and writing a short case for why a zoo should keep it, or why it should not.
