About this word search

Older students and orchestra members will know most of these, but spelling them is another matter. Glockenspiel is German for bell play, Bassoon and Oboe both came into English through French, and Xylophone joins two Greek roots, xylon for wood and phone for sound.

In this big grid, all eight directions are in play, backwards too. Start with Xylophone, since X is a rare letter, then look for the phrases written without spaces: Treble clef and the three note values. The letters NOTE show up three times as a result, so check what comes before each one.

A music teacher might follow up by having students sort the instruments by family and then draw the three note values in order of length.
