About this word search

This list follows a student from the morning bell to the last week of the year: Attendance in homeroom, a Field trip in the spring, then the Yearbook and the Report card. Cubby and Janitor are everyday words in American elementary schools that rarely show up in a textbook, which makes them useful for kids learning English as a new language.

This grid is big, and its words head off up, down, sideways and slantwise, with some spelled in reverse. Start with the long phrases, because Composition book and Pencil sharpener need so much room that only a few lines can hold them. After that, a rare letter is your friend: the Y in Yearbook and Geography narrows things down fast.

For a fast finisher, a natural next step is sorting the twenty-eight words into people, places and things.
