About this word search

Old Glory is a nickname for the American flag, and Uncle Sam is the bearded figure in a top hat who stands for the country. Philadelphia is on the list because the Declaration was signed there, in the building now called Independence Hall.

This grid allows all eight directions. Statue of Liberty and Founding Fathers are long and written without spaces. Philadelphia has the pair PH twice, which is unusual enough to spot from a distance.

For a class that studies American history in the weeks before summer break, the list can open a short discussion about what the Constitution and the Declaration each did.
