About this word search

Some words on this list belong to Canadian farm country in particular. A Grain elevator was once the tallest building in many prairie towns, standing beside the railway so that Wheat and Barley could be loaded onto trains. The Milking parlour is where a dairy herd is milked, usually at least twice a day.

With twenty-eight words pointing in all eight directions, backwards included, an organized approach helps. Go for the longest entries first, since they have no spaces and cross a big part of the board. Then use the rarer letters: the K in Pitchfork and Haystack, or the Y in Barley, Donkey and Turkey.

Older students studying where food comes from could sort the list into animals, crops, buildings and tools.
