Farm, extra hard

About this word search

This is farming the Australian way. The Kelpie is a working dog breed developed here for mustering sheep, the Ute does the carrying, and the Quad bike gets the farmer across a Paddock in a hurry. For city readers, a Heifer is a female of the herd that has never calved.

The grid is eighteen by eighteen and the words can head off in all eight directions, backwards as well. Ute and Silo are short enough to hide almost anywhere, so save them for the end. Begin with Milking shed, Cattle grid and Farmhouse, which reach across a big part of the grid and are hard to lose once the first letters are found.

Country kids may know more of these words than their teachers, which can make for a lively conversation in a city classroom.
