About this word search

A cattle grid is the row of metal bars across a country road that animals will not step onto, while cars drive straight over it. A Heifer is a young cow that has not yet had a calf, and a Hedgerow is the line of shrubs and small trees that marks the edge of a field. Words like these make the puzzle a small vocabulary lesson for city children.

In the eighteen-square grid, words can go forwards, backwards and in all four diagonal directions. Begin with the long two-word entries, Milking shed and Cattle grid. The Q in Quad bike and the K in Pitchfork are useful anchors.

Afterwards, ask which of the twenty-eight words you would also find on a farm a hundred years ago.
