About this word search
Hen, Owl and Egg have three letters, and Duck, Swan, Crow, Nest, Wing and Beak have four. Robin is the longest word on the list, which makes it a good first find for a child who is still learning to read.
Birds in this small grid only fly two ways: rightward on a row, or downward like a falling feather. Let your child choose one, say its first letter aloud and hunt for it with a fingertip, then peek to the right and underneath to see if the rest of the bird is there.
On a walk afterwards, see which of the ten birds you can spot at the park or the pond. A crow and a duck are usually easy, an owl a lot less so.
