About this word search
Herbivore comes from Latin words for plant and eat, and it fits giants such as the Diplodocus and the Stegosaurus. Australia has its own fossil finds too, many of them in outback Queensland, which makes Fossil and Museum on this list easy to connect to a real trip.
In this middle version the fossils lie in rows, columns and diagonals, and none of them has been flipped. Pterodactyl starts with a silent P, a detail worth pointing out before the search begins. Jurassic and Extinct are worth explaining first so the words carry some meaning.
Afterwards, ask children to sort the twenty words into three groups: animals, things you find on a dig and words about time.
