About this word search
Monarch butterflies leave Canada in late summer and fall and fly all the way to the mountains of central Mexico for the winter. Groundhogs take the opposite approach and stay put, curled up in their burrows. Migration and Hibernation are both in this list, and they make a good pair to compare in a science lesson.
Those two words share the ending ATION, which can trip you up when you spot it in the grid. Follow it back to see which beginning belongs to it. Thanksgiving is one of the longer entries, and the double o in Toadstool is easy to spot. Every direction is possible, including reversed and diagonal.
Students who finish early can write a short paragraph about one animal and what it does to get ready for the cold months.
