About this word search
Children learn to cross the road holding a grown-up's hand long before they can read a sign. These ten words link what they see on the street with the letters on the page.
Say each word aloud first. The words lie only in rows or columns, never slanting, so slide a finger along from the start of each line. Stop is a good one to talk about, since children can also find it on a real red sign.
On the next walk, practise stop, look, listen and think at the kerb, and name every Car, Bus and Truck that goes by.
