About this word search
Bring a real apple, a pear and a lemon to the table before you start. Let your child hold each one, smell it and name it, then go looking for the word in the grid. A word feels very different once you have had the fruit in your hand.
Lime and Lemon both start with L, and Peach and Pear both start with P. Point out those pairs, since a young reader can easily stop at the first matching letter. The words all go across or down, so each search follows one straight line.
Finish with a tasting: cut small pieces of three fruits on the list and let your child pick a favourite, then circle that word once more in a bright colour.
