About this word search
Kindergarten rooms are full of the objects on this list, so a child can look up from the page and point to the real Glue, Paint or Ruler across the room. That link between a printed word and a thing they can touch is how many early readers start to make sense of letters.
No word in this small grid of ten squares a side runs on a slant or backwards, only along a row as you would read a book or straight down a column. Sit beside your child, say each word slowly and listen together for the first sound. Then run a finger along each row looking for that letter before checking the columns.
Afterwards, fill a school bag side by side, saying the name of every item you drop into it.
