About this word search
A crown, a sword and a horse are simple props for a game of knights, and every one of them is on this list. The ten words are short enough for a young reader to tackle one at a time.
Each word goes across or down, the way a child already reads a line or a list. Start with Moat and Flag, then try Queen, which has two Es side by side. Running a finger along each row helps young readers keep track of where they are.
Build a castle from blocks or cardboard afterwards and add a paper flag on the tower. Ask what the moat is for and why a castle would need one.
