About this word search

The Southern Cross, which appears on the Australian flag, is one of the best known star patterns in the southern sky. It is a good example to mention when students reach the word Constellation.

Search in all eight directions, including backwards. Solar system, Light year, Mission control and Launch pad are printed as single strings. Uranus and Neptune hold the outer edge of the solar system, and Pluto, demoted to a dwarf planet in 2006, is still welcome here.

A quick follow-up is a countdown quiz: read out a definition and let students race to find the matching word in the grid.

Ways to use this word search

  • In the classroom

  • At home and on the go
