Summer, extra hard

Give it a try: drag a line across the letters.

About this word search

This is a very British summer: Windbreak, Deckchair, Rock pool and Ice lolly, with a Hosepipe and a Sprinkler for the garden. Heatwave and Thunderstorm both made the list as well, which feels about right.

Every one of the eight directions is in use across these eighteen squares. Two of the longest entries, Swimming costume and Picnic blanket, are good anchors. After that, look for the double letters in Paddling pool and Strawberries. Freckles and Suntan are shorter and hide well.

It suits a campsite evening, a ferry crossing or a quiet hour while the younger children splash about. Afterwards, write a postcard home that uses six words from the list.
