About this word search
Navy, Crimson and Turquoise take a child past the crayon basics and into the names grown-ups use for paint, clothes and cars. Turquoise is named after the stone, and the stone's name goes back to an old French word for Turkish. Lilac and Violet were flowers long before they were colors.
Nothing is hidden backwards here, though words can run on a slant as well as across and down. Gray and Gold both start with G, so whenever that letter turns up, check every direction before moving on.
After the puzzle, children can line up all twenty colors from light to dark, which tends to start a surprisingly serious discussion about where Beige and Cream belong.
