About this word search
Grey is spelled with an e here, as it is in most Canadian classrooms, while many American books print it with an a. Children who read widely often notice the difference, and a short chat about why both spellings exist follows naturally.
Words lie flat in rows, stand up in columns or cut across corner to corner, but every one of them reads forwards. Turquoise and Crimson are the longest, while Navy, Gold and Pink are four letters each and easy to skip past. Lilac and Violet name flowers as well as shades.
Try it with a box of pencil crayons nearby and ask the solver to shade each word in its own colour. Beige and Cream will look almost the same on paper, which leads to a good talk about how close two colours can be.
