About this word search

Several birds here are named for their voices. The Whip-poor-will calls its own name at night, the Chickadee does much the same by day, and the Killdeer cries something close to its name as it runs across a gravel lot or a ball field.

Expect long strings in this eighteen by eighteen grid, such as PEREGRINEFALCON and GREATHORNEDOWL. Words go in all eight directions, backwards included. Two entries end in OWL, so a find of those three letters is worth checking twice.

Keen birders can mark the ones they have seen themselves. The Roadrunner, a ground-running cuckoo of the Southwest, is a prize for anyone outside the desert states, and a Loon on a northern lake is another one to brag about.
