About this word search

Opera, Aria, Soprano, Tenor and Maestro all come from Italian, a reminder of how much concert vocabulary grew up in Italy. Gershwin is the lone American among the composers here, and his Rhapsody in Blue had its premiere in New York in 1924.

Words appear across, down and on the diagonal, always spelled forward. String quartet is the longest, written as one run of letters. Bach and Aria are short enough that they often surface only on a second pass.

For a music afternoon at a senior center or a listening club, play a short piece by each composer as their name is found.
