About this word search

Soda fountain and Corner store take many Canadians straight back to childhood: a float at the drugstore counter, penny candy in a paper bag, a comic book on the rack. The Drive-in and the Video store belong to the same memories, as does the Pay phone that swallowed your coins.

Each word reads forwards, flat, upright or on the diagonal. RECORDPLAYER and ROTARYPHONE are long and appear without spaces. VHS is three letters and very easy to miss.

This one works beautifully in a seniors' residence or at a family gathering, where each word can bring out a story.

Ways to use this word search

  • With your coffee

Print a sheet for a quiet moment at the kitchen table or in your armchair. Start with the regular version and save the hard one for when you really have time for it.

  • On the go

  • Puzzle together

Bring the sheet to your book club, a night in with friends or a visit to your parents and see who finds every word first. Or play online and find out who is fastest.
