About this word search

Canadian readers have their own landmarks, from Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables to the novels of Margaret Atwood. The words on this list describe books themselves, from the Blurb on the back cover to the Bookmark tucked inside.

A word may cross a row, fill part of a column or cut across on a slant, but you never read one backwards. Page and Plot are short, while Translation and Publisher are good long starts. Bookworm, Bookstore and Bookmark all open with BOOK, so check the ending before circling.

A book club can use it as an icebreaker, then each member names the Character they remember best from this year's reading.

Ways to use this word search

  • With your coffee

Print a sheet for a quiet moment at the kitchen table or in your armchair. Start with the regular version and save the hard one for when you really have time for it.

  • On the go

Slip a few printed sheets into your bag for the train, a waiting room or a weekend away. A pen is all you need, no screen required.

  • Puzzle together

Bring the sheet to your book club, a night in with friends or a visit to your parents and see who finds every word first. Or play online and find out who is fastest.

Try it in Spanish too
