About this word search
Eleven and Twelve break the pattern of the teens because they are much older words. Both go back to old Germanic compounds built on the idea of a number remaining once ten had been counted. Eighteen is another small trap, with a single T where Eight plus teen would suggest two.
Nothing in this grid reads back to front, though words may cross it on a slant as well as along the rows and columns. Hundred and Seventeen are long enough to spot quickly. Zero and Dozen are the odd ones out, so save them for when the eye needs a change.
For a follow-up, ask children to write today's date or their house number in words, using the list as a guide.
