About this word search

Australia has a fair claim in film history. The Story of the Kelly Gang, made in 1906, is often called the first full-length feature film anywhere in the world.

Like a reel run properly through the projector, every word here plays forwards, whether across, down or at an angle. Premiere and Subtitles are long and good first finds. The Usher is a word older puzzlers will enjoy, from the days of being shown to a seat by torchlight.

For a film club or a movie afternoon at a retirement village, finish by naming a favourite Western, Musical or Thriller and the actor who carried it.

Ways to use this word search

  • With your coffee

Print a sheet for a quiet moment at the kitchen table or in your armchair. Start with the regular version and save the hard one for when you really have time for it.

  • On the go

Slip a few printed sheets into your bag for the train, a waiting room or a weekend away. A pen is all you need, no screen required.

  • Puzzle together

Bring the sheet to your book club, a night in with friends or a visit to your parents and see who finds every word first. Or play online and find out who is fastest.
